光遗传学研究系统利用leds光源对动物一个或者多个具体脑区的经过视蛋白修饰的神经元进行光学刺激。

光遗传学研究系统可以整合到pinnacle的脑电/肌电（eeg/emg）研究系统，同步记录睡眠或者癫痫活动。光遗传学研究系统同样与pinnacle数据采集系统和sirenia®软件兼容。

系统内置一个光遗传学的接口模块，可与pinnacle的三通道或四通道数据采集系统整合在一起工作，提供精确的时间和光照控制。模块连接到一个电子转换器和探头。系统配备的led光纤探头兼容标准的套管放置技术，因此不需要光学转换器。有四种探头可选：1-或者2-通道光刺激，用于行为学研究；1-通道光刺激+eeg/emg记录，用于睡眠研究；1-通道光刺激+eeg脑电记录，用于癫痫研究。

光遗传学研究系统的主要优势：

optogenetic system is designed to optically stimulate opsin-modified neurons in one or more specific brain regions using leds. it can be integrated into pinnacle’s eeg/emg systems to simultaneously record sleep or seizure activity. the system is also compatible with all pinnacle data acquisition systems and sirenia® software.

 
1. the optogenetic interface module (ogim) provides precise timing and illumination control of the led fiber probe.
2. our 8401-hs data conditioning and acquisition system (dcas) performs secondary amplification and filtering before sending data to pinnacle’s sirenia acquisition software of collection via usb.
3. the low-torque commutator, which is mounted above the cage, allows for unencumbered freedom of movement.
4. electrophysiological signals are amplified and filtered at the head of the animal using our headstages. the mouse headstage contains up to 2 connectors to optogenetic led probes and connects to a headmount via a friction fit.
5. prefabricated headmounts reduce surgery time and provide ready-to-insert emg leads.
6. an optional, synchronized video system is available.

pinnacle’s optogenetic stimulation is based on leds coupled to 200/250 µm fiber optic cable with a minimum light output of 60mw/mm². the led fiber probes are implanted using a guide cannula and standard stereotaxic techniques. the led fiber probe assembly plugs directly into a 2 mm electrical header on the headstage, removing any requirements for an optical commutator.
